Carnegie Learning Invited to Present Innovative Math Curricula Software on Capitol Hill

SETDA and SIIA Showcase Future of Learning at U.S. House of Representatives Rayburn Office Building

Washington, DC, June 16, 2009 – Carnegie Learning, Inc., a leading publisher of innovative, research-based math solutions for middle school, high school, and post-secondary students, is one of a select group of education industry providers invited to demonstrate the role of technology on the future of learning and education at an event this afternoon at the U.S. House of Representatives Rayburn Office Building.

Hosted by The State Educational Technology Directors Association (SETDA) and the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), the event highlights innovative educational approaches from experts in education technology, including educational software, multimedia content and instructional simulations, home school connections, interactive white boards, and data and assessment tools.

"The Capitol Hill showcase reflects an increased understanding in the U.S. Congress of the importance of technology and innovation to the future of learning and the nation's education system,” said Mark Schneiderman, Senior Director of Education Policy at the Software & Information Industry Association. “Participants were selected to represent the full depth and breadth of technology's role in improving teaching and learning."

Carnegie Learning® Math Solutions, including Bridge to Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and Integrated Math, currently provide self-paced, differentiated instruction to more than 500,000 students in nearly 2600 schools across the United States, helping students to succeed in math as a gateway to graduation and preparation for the 21st century workforce.

“We are honored to be included among the companies illustrating the value of teaching and learning through technology,” said Dr. Steve Ritter, Chief Scientist and co-founder of Carnegie Learning, Inc. “The potential for individualized instruction and a deeper conceptual understanding of mathematics is the foundation of our technology. Learning is becoming more dynamic, engaging, and measurable and it’s an exciting time to be a student and an educator.”

Dr. Ritter will be at the Rayburn Office Building today from 12 noon-3PM ET to show the software, share the cognitive learning foundation of the solution, and discuss the measurable results being demonstrated across the country with staff from the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Education and Labor as well as the media.

Last month, Carnegie Learning won a CODiE Award from the Software & Information Industry Association as Best Mathematics Instructional Solution. Also last month, Carnegie Learning received a Best in Tech Award for the 2008–2009 school year from Scholastic Administrator Magazine. This competitive national award recognizes Carnegie Learning® Math programs as a leading Supplemental Math Solution.
