| Utah State Office of Education Recommends Carnegie Learning® Math Curricula to Schools and Districts Statewide Innovative Math Software and Textbooks Adopted through 2014 PITTSBURGH, PA, August 17, 2009 – Carnegie Learning, Inc. announced today that the Utah State Instructional Materials Commission has recommended the company’s complete suite of middle school and high school mathematics software and textbooks to schools across the state. The Commission completed an extensive review of Carnegie Learning® Bridge to Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II programs, and designated all four curricula Recommended Primary Instructional Material, for purchase by Utah schools or districts with funds designated for state instructional materials. Advisory committees appointed by the Utah State Instructional Materials Commission evaluated the following criteria in the review process: Utah State Core Curriculum and Content Coverage, Ancillary Materials, Technology, Universal Access, and Assessment. Carnegie Learning® Math Curricula were recognized as aligning with the content, philosophy and instructional strategies of the Utah State Core curriculum and recommended for use by students as principle sources of study, as providing comprehensive coverage of course content, and supporting U-PASS requirements in the State of Utah. Utah students in Granite and Jordan Schools Districts currently use Carnegie Learning® Math Curricula. Carnegie Learning® Math Curricula and research are recognized internationally for innovation and effectiveness. In early July, cognitive scientists and research assistants received “Best Paper” at EDM ’09, the Second International Conference on Education Data Mining in Cordoba, Spain for “Reducing the Knowledge Tracing Space”, which demonstrates one way to more efficiently model student learning of cognitive skills. In May 2009, Carnegie Learning® Adaptive Math Software won a CODiE Award from the Software & Information Industry Association as Best Mathematics Instructional Solution. Also in May 2009, Carnegie Learning, Inc. received a Best in Tech Award for the 2008–2009 school year from Scholastic Administrator Magazine. This competitive national award recognizes Carnegie Learning® Math programs as providing market-leading supplemental math software solutions. Carnegie Learning® Math Curricula are adopted in nine states: Alaska, Georgia, Idaho, Kentucky, Mississippi, New Mexico, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Utah.
