Research Project Manager
The research project manager is responsible for coordinating, supervising and facilitating research activities between Carnegie Learning and other universities and research organizations. Current research projects include:
- The Pittsburgh Science of Learning Center: This NSF-funded center supports researchers in implementing and testing new ideas for teaching math through our Cognitive Tutor technology. This project is a collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh.
- The Math Fluency Data Collaborative: The goal of this project is to create and test educational games that build fluency in basic mathematics. The project is a collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University, New York University, University of North Carolina at Charlotte and Pellissippi State Community College.
- Instructional Guidance in Equation Solving: This project aims to better understand how students learn to solve equations by combining computer modeling and functional MRI imaging to look at brain activity. The project is a collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University.
Responsibilities:
The research project manager will:
· Maintain schedules and coordinate meetings with the research partners
· Translate researchers’ project plans and research objectives into requirements and functional specifications
· Coordinate software development and field testing activities
· Integrate research software development with other development activities at Carnegie Learning
· Schedule and manage quality assurance testing of software to be deployed in the research
· Coordiante with teachers and administrators at schools sites
Requirements:
- BA, BS or Masters degree in psychology, statistics or a related field and experience with field research.
- Experience with software development projects is a strong advantage.
- 3-5 years experience in managing complex projects, especially those with a research focus.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
