BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Carnegie Learning's board of directors includes experts in cognitive research, educational technology, education policy, publishing, finance, product development and management. The board meets quarterly and several of the company's board members are frequent speakers and panelists at national educational curriculum and technology conferences.

Mark Kamlet

Mark S. Kamlet is chairman of the board of directors of Carnegie Learning. He is Provost of Carnegie Mellon University and a Professor of economics and public policy. He has also served as head of the Department of Social and Decision Sciences, Associate Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, and for eight years served as Dean of the H. John Heinz III School of Public Policy and Management.

Dennis Ciccone

Dennis Ciccone is the Founder and Managing Partner of Terra Lycos Ventures, where he holds board positions with several portfolio companies and is an advisor to the Ernst & Young Global Technology Forum.

Tom Vilsack

Tom Vilsack, former Governor of Iowa, joined Carnegie Learning's Board in April 2007. As Governor, Vilsack focused predominantly on issues relevant to children and families. He improved Iowa schools, expanded health care coverage to 90,000 uninsured children, established Iowa as a national leader in renewable energy, and provided targeted tax relief to working families. Vilsack, a native of Pittsburgh, announced a bid for the Presidency in early December and withdrew from the race for the Democratic nomination in mid-February. Currently, Vilsack is a lawyer with Dorsey & Whitney, an international firm with offices in Des Moines. In addition, he teaches at Drake University Law School and is a consultant for MidAmerican Energy on renewable fuels programs. Governor Vilsack is a member of Strong American Schools ED in 08, a non-partisan group funded in part by Microsoft founder Bill Gates, committed to ensuring that the nation makes education a top priority in the 2008 presidential election.

Tom Flood

Thomas J. Flood is president and Chief Executive Officer of Collier Enterprises, Ltd., a diversified, private company based in Naples, Florida. Tom also serves as president of Collier Investments, Ltd.

Jay Katarincic

Jay Katarincic is a Managing Director of Draper Triangle Ventures. Mr. Katarincic is also a Principal in Lycos Ventures, a $75 million venture fund investing in Internet companies and affiliated with Lycos, Inc. Mr. Katarincic is also a member of meVC Draper Fisher Jurvetson Fund I, a publicly traded mutual fund focused on early stage technology investments.

Ken Koedinger

Dr. Koedinger is a co-founder of Carnegie Learning. His background includes a B.S. in Mathematics, an M.S. in Computer Science, a Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology, and experience teaching in an urban high school. Dr. Koedinger has developed cognitive tutors for mathematics and science and has tested them in the laboratory and the classroom.

John O'Connor

John O'Connor is Chief Financial Officer of Collier Investments, Ltd., an affiliate of Collier Enterprises, Ltd. Collier is a diversified, private company based in Naples, Florida.

Linda G. Roberts (Advisor)

Linda G. Roberts directed the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Educational Technology from its inception in September 1993 to January 2001, and served as the Secretary of Education's Special Adviser on Technology. Winner of numerous awards, Dr. Roberts is a former elementary School Teacher and Reading Specialist, University Professor and Academic Dean.
