Dennis Ciccone, Chief Executive Officer
Before joining Carnegie Learning, Ciccone was the Founder and Managing Partner of Lycos Ventures. In that capacity Ciccone served on the Board of Directors of Carnegie Learning, as well as several other portfolio companies. Ciccone also served as Vice President of Mergers and Acquisitions of Lycos, Inc. Prior to working for Lycos, Ciccone was President, C.O.O. and Director of WiseWire, an internet software company purchased by Lycos in 1998. Earlier in his career, Ciccone, worked for 12 years with Simon & Schuster as Director of Sales and Marketing. |

David Hart, Executive Vice President
David Hart brings more than 20 years of experience in business development, financial planning, and operations to the company. Prior to joining Carnegie Learning, Hart was a General Partner at Lycos Ventures. Earlier in his career, Hart worked as Director of Business Development for Lycos, Inc., and directed sales and marketing at WiseWire Corporation. He previously was a sales manager at IBM and worked as Treasurer of Transarc Corporation. He is a graduate of Harvard Business School, and served five years active duty in the U.S. Army as a helicopter pilot. |

Steve Ritter, Co-Founder & Chief Scientist
Steve Ritter, Chief Scientist at Carnegie Learning, has been developing and evaluating educational systems for over 10 years. He earned his Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology at Carnegie Mellon University in 1992 and helped to found Carnegie Learning in 1998. As a postdoctoral associate and research scientist at Carnegie Mellon, Dr. Ritter was instrumental in the development and evaluation of the Cognitive Tutors for mathematics. He is the author of numerous papers on the design, architecture and evaluation of Intelligent Tutoring Systems and served as chairman of the IEEE Learning Technology Standards Committee working group on tool/agent communication. |

Joseph Goins, Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing
Before joining Carnegie Learning, Joseph Goins served in several different sales roles for Plato Learning, most recently as Vice President of Strategic Sales, where he developed marketing strategies and initiatives for the nation's top 100 school districts. Goins began his career as a vocational educator where he developed a statewide mathematics curriculum. He earned his Masters of Science degree in Administration and Supervision from the University of Tennessee and upon completion, served on a state-wide basic skills committee that adopted guidelines which the Tennessee Board of Regents subsequently used. Joseph is a member of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development and serves as a Board Member of the Christian Education Network. |

Mary Murrin, Vice President of Government & Public Relations
Mary Murrin has nearly 20 years experience creating and implementing public relations and marketing strategies for both early-stage software companies and global corporations. At Carnegie Learning, Murrin works with federal and state legislators and public and private funding sources to implement programs that help middle and high school students succeed in math as a critical step toward graduation. Before joining Carnegie Learning, Murrin was a product marketing lead for Nokia’s mobile email programs and, prior to Nokia, she developed media, analyst, and marketing strategies for four software start-up companies, all of which were successfully acquired by market leaders. Murrin began her career with Westinghouse Electric Corporation. She is a graduate of Brown University. |

Michael Johnson, President, Higher Education Division
Michael Johnson has over 20 years of experience building strategy for the Higher Education curricula market, and has held executive positions at every level in the publishing industry. Prior to joining Carnegie Learning, Inc. Johnson spent ten years with Thomson Corporation where he served as President of Thomson Science and Mathematics, Senior Vice President of Strategic Development in charge of Thomson's Higher Education Remediation Strategy, and Vice President & Editorial Director for the Thomson math and science imprint, Brooks/Cole. Before joining Thomson in 1996, Johnson was a Director and Executive Editor for Engineering and Computer Science for McGraw-Hill and, prior to that, was Senior Acquisitions Editor for Mathematics also at McGraw-Hill. Earlier in his career, Johnson was a marketing manager and Acquisitions Editor of Mathematics at Harcourt Brace Jovanovich. |

Jay Sherman, Vice President of Operations
As Vice President of Operations, Jacob Sherman manages distribution, fulfillment and operations activity for Carnegie Learning, Inc. Most recently, Sherman was with Advanced Marketing Services and, prior to that, served as Vice President Distribution and Vice President Fulfillment Administration at Random House. Earlier in his career, he spent 12 years with Ingram Book Company and Ingram Entertainment in roles as Vice President and General manager of various operational entities. Sherman earned his MBA from Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management. |

Stephen Grieco, Vice President of Software Development
Stephen Grieco comes to Carnegie Learning after 15 years at Intel Corporation where he gained experience in microprocessor engineering, sales & marketing operations, and leading strategy and implementation of customer facing IT systems. At Carnegie Learning, Grieco leads development strategy and execution of new math product lines for the Higher Education market as well as development of next generation versions and new solutions of the company’s core math software programs for middle schools and high schools. He graduated Summa Cum Laude in Computer Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute (Virginia Tech). |

Melissa Kalinowski, Vice President, Marketing
Melissa Kalinowski joined Carnegie Learning from PLATO Learning, Inc., where she developed and executed marketing plans for the company’s K-12 comprehensive courseware and formative assessment products. Kalinowski was a top performer at PLATO where she was recognized with eight awards in her 10 years with the company. Earlier in her career, Kalinowski held marketing roles with Concordia University, the MicroVision Corporation, and the Minnesota Women’s Press. She is a graduate of St. Cloud University and earned an M.F.A from Hamline University. |

William S. Hadley, Co-Founder & Advisor
William S. Hadley is a founder of Carnegie Learning, and formerly served as the Chief Academic Officer and Vice President of Educational Services. Mr. Hadley is a widely respected mathematics educator who, in his 30 years as a teacher, participated in many efforts related to the development of the student-achievement standards adopted by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM). He was a teacher, author and teacher trainer at the Carnegie Mellon PACT Center for nine years, as well as a consultant to the National Center on Education and Economy. He has received numerous awards, including the Presidential Award for Mathematics Teaching in Pennsylvania. Mr. Hadley's extensive experience in training educations to teach mathematics includes the creation of a series of professional development courses at Carnegie Learning. In addition, in his role as Vice President of Educational Services, Mr. Hadley was responsible for creating "Train the Trainer" programs, which develop Certified Implementation Specialists, and have allowed Carnegie Learning to provide professional development for up to 3000 teachers per year. |
