Georgia Mathematics 1 Custom Curriculum Delivers Research-Based, Integrated High School Math

Carnegie Learning, Inc. Releases New Textbook Aligned to Georgia Performance Standards

PITTSBURGH, PA, February 7, 2008 – Carnegie Learning, Inc., the leading publisher of research-based math curricula for middle schools, high schools, and the higher education market, announced today the release of a new math curriculum designed specifically to meet new, more rigorous high school math requirements being implemented by the Georgia Department of Education in fall 2008.

Carnegie Learning’s curricula are nationally recognized for success in teaching concepts, skills, and problem-solving using real life situations. In the development of Carnegie Learning’s Georgia Mathematics 1 program, cognitive scientists and educators leveraged more than 20 years of ongoing research into how students learn, to build a curriculum and ongoing Professional Development programs to help students to succeed in higher-level courses, prepare for college, and qualify for more competitive positions in the workforce.

“Carnegie Learning differs from traditional publishers in that we focus exclusively on secondary-level mathematics, and we prepare teachers and administrators to successfully implement research-based mathematics programs each and every year,” said Dennis Ciccone, CEO of Carnegie Learning, Inc. “Georgia, like many states, is taking aggressive and much-needed steps to help students graduate and compete in a challenging workforce. Our model in Georgia and around the country, is to create a partnership where we have an ongoing, personal investment in the success of our students and teachers.”

Carnegie Learning is best known for teaching mathematics based on models of how students learn, and the company is increasingly recognized as providing a unique and results-driven solution for improving math achievement for all students. Several independent third parties have published reports of Carnegie Learning’s effectiveness in rural, urban, and suburban districts throughout the United States, and the U.S. Department of Education recently funded a $6 million to study by RAND Corporation assessing the effectiveness of Carnegie Learning solutions in carefully controlled studies in seven states.

Carnegie Learning’s Georgia Mathematics 1 is available for purchase immediately for delivery this spring. The company will develop a Georgia Mathematics 2 edition when the Georgia Department of Education releases the relevant Curriculum Frameworks later this year.
