How Do I Get the New Version of the Software?
** Please forward this information to anyone within your school or district responsible for administering the Carnegie Learning Cognitive Tutor software or person(s) responsible for software upgrades.
For Carnegie Learning Online Users:
- If you are a Carnegie Learning Online user of the software, we have scheduled your upgrade to the current version of the Cognitive Tutor software to the 2011-2012 release this July.
- What This Means For You:
- Schools will be upgraded based on an upgrade schedule beginning July 5th.
- This process does not require any action on your part and usually takes about an hour.
- All your current data will be moved forward to the next version, so you will not lose any data.
- What You Need To Do:
- Check the upgrade schedule. This document will be posted in the near future to the Carnegie Learning Resource Center, and you will receive an email notification when it is available. Check your time scheduled, and if this time is not convenient, notify the Help Desk to reschedule. If you do not respond, your software will be automatically upgraded on the date scheduled.
- You are encouraged to clean up your Teacher's Toolkit prior to your upgrade by deleting any instructors, classes or students that will not use the software next school year.
For Installed Cognitive Tutor Sotware LMS Client:

- If you are a user of the installed Cognitive Tutor software LMS client, you will need to schedule your upgrade with Carnegie Learning Customer Support. Contact them at 1-877-401-2527 or email help@carnegielearning.com.
Recommendations Prior to Your Upgrade

What's New in Cognitive Tutor Software for 2011-2012
This edition of the Software Implementation Guide is updated for the 2011 Cognitive Tutor® software. This year's enhancements include:
- Assessments by Unit: Assessments in custom curriculum can now be created by unit instead of topic.
- A Student Search button in Teacher's Toolkit that allows you to search for students to find out what class they are in.
- The selection mechanism is now used for various other solver menu items that don't involve scratchpads. This allows the student to select the portion of the expression that they want to apply the menu item to, allowing students to type the result of that operation without having to retype the entire expression.
- Edit class sequence now allows you to reset student assignment to the first incomplete module in the sequence.
