Carnegie Learning Hosts National Math Institute for Educators
Research-based Professional Learning to Raise Student Achievement in Middle & Secondary Mathematics
PITTSBURGH, PA, June 24, 2010 – Carnegie Learning, a leading publisher of innovative, research-based math curricula for middle school, high school, and post-secondary students, will host The Carnegie Learning® National Math Institute, an intensive three-day professional development institute focused on raising middle school and high school student achievement in math. Meeting at the Galt House Hotel & Suites in Louisville, KY from July 11-14, 2010, nationally recognized education leaders will share best practices in student-centered learning to provide mathematics educators with:
- Effective mathematics instructional strategies for middle school and high school
- Mathematics content knowledge to support individual student learning
- Expertise in implementing a successful standards-based, student-centered classroom
- Tools to monitor and sustain a successful Carnegie Learning implementation
- A network of colleagues to share best practices and innovative classroom ideas
Attendance is limited and is open to Carnegie Learning teachers, leaders, and administrators, as well as educators interested in learning more about a research-based, student-centered approach to middle school and secondary mathematics instruction. Attendees who complete a final assignment demonstrating the integration of theory and practice in a classroom application will receive two graduate credits in math education.
