Teacher's Implementation Guide

The Teacher's Implementation Guide includes a smaller version of each Student Text page.

Exploring Together

The Exploring Together section in the margin suggests a Grouping that will work for the lesson, problem-specific Guiding Questions for the teacher to pose, and Key Formative Assessment Questions that allow the teacher to ensure that groups or individuals are on track.

Notes

Notes about particular questions may include suggestions for key actions on the part of the teacher, hints about pitfalls in a particular problem, and information about alternative solution paths.

Answers

Answers are given in place for all questions, including sample answers to writing questions.

Get Ready

The Get Ready section lists lesson Objectives, Key Terms, Materials, and references to NCTM Content Standards. A Lesson Overview includes Essential Questions and ties to previous and future lessons.

Show the Way

The Show the Way section includes Warm-Up review questions with answers for each lesson and a lesson Motivator relating to the problem in the lesson.

Common Student Errors

A description of Common Student Errors alerts teachers to mistakes that students frequently make and common student misconceptions.

Wrap-up

The Wrap-Up section provides a suggested lesson Close and lists the Assignment, Skills Practice, and Assessment, if applicable, that accompanies the lesson. An Open- Ended Writing Task is also included that provides an open-ended question for which students need to write a short paragraph.

Reflections

The Reflections section encourages teachers to review the lesson and notewhat parts of the lesson went well and what parts they should review.
