High School Mathematics: Reasoning and Sense Making in Algebra

We will also explore examples from the classroom that illustrate how reasoning and sense making can be part of polynomial lessons, part of making connections across the curriculum and can be part of problem solving.

Fred Dillon has been a classroom teacher for over 32 years, and is currently the Mathematics Chair at Strongsville High School in northeast Ohio. Fred has been active in professional organizations for mathematic teachers at the local, state and national level. Fred award achievements include Presidential Awardee, Tandy Award winner, American Star of Teaching and five times chosen as Most Influential Teacher by his students. Fred is also on the Professional Development Services Committee, on the program committee for two NCTM Annual meetings and he currently sits on the Board of Directors for NCTM.
