Is it okay that some students will be ahead of the classroom activities and some will be behind?

This curriculum is organized very differently than typical texts so that students are never "ahead" in the classroom, just more confident. The classroom curriculum and the MATHia curriculum are parallel—one reinforces the other. The classroom materials revolve around big ideas that become progressively more sophisticated as the year goes on, and aren’t arranged topically. Students are constantly grappling with the same ideas in some sense, and you will notice that the students who have progressed further on the tutor will become group leaders in the classroom, pushing others along and mentoring while still being challenged.
