Meet Your Texas Professional Learning Team

Cassie Martin-Reynolds: Regional Vice President of Professional Learning

Cassie has been designing and facilitating impactful professional learning experiences at Carnegie Learning since 2007. She’s partnered with districts like Dallas ISD, Frisco ISD, Santa Fe, NM, and Richmond County, GA.

She’s also facilitated student-centered mathematics classrooms as a high school math teacher, department head, and math coach. As our Regional Vice President of Professional Learning, she serves as a thought partner, coach, and mentor for districts across the country as they implement Carnegie Learning Resources and Professional Learning services.

Cassie supports our Texas Team in a variety of ways - you might see her facilitating initial training workshops, engaging in data conversations, or demoing an upcoming lesson. Regardless of what she’s doing, we can guarantee that Cassie will be supporting you with a smile!

Lemario Bland: Director of Professional learning

Peter Carellas: Interim Director of Professional Learning

Peter has worked in education for over 20 years. Prior to joining Carnegie Learning, he served as VP of Professional Development at a Mathematics Educational Technology Company where he framed the professional development program and oversaw the Sales and Educational Services Team.  In the classroom, Peter has extensive experience in K-8 education and served as a Middle School Mathematics Coach for Albuquerque Public Schools.  Currently with Carnegie, he works in Texas and NM where he facilitates in-classroom as well as custom professional development for K-8 teachers.  Peter was named Carnegie Learning’s Professional Learning Person of the Year for 2019/2020.

Aaron Houston: Manager of School Partnerships

Aaron joined the Carnegie Learning team in 2021. Prior to joining Carnegie Learning, Aaron worked as a high school Mathematics teacher and a Secondary Math Strategist in Grand Prairie ISD. He has nine years of classroom experience teaching Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebraic Reasoning, and Math Models. He also has three years of experience at the district level: coaching and supporting teachers in planning and in Professional Learning Communities, developing curriculum-based assessments, and delivering professional learning. Aaron currently lives in Mansfield, Texas with his wife and two daughters.

Wil Simpson: Manager of School Partnerships

Wil has devoted over 20 years of service in support of educators and students in Florida. Wil’s career started as a high school math teacher where he served on multiple school and district committees, spearheaded school-wide technology initiatives, and was recognized by his colleagues as Teacher of the Year. Afterwards, Wil worked in nonprofit management as an education advocate where he coordinated multiple services throughout local school districts. Prior to joining the Carnegie Learning team in 2021, Wil served as an online administrator for nine years where he supported Math and English teachers, earned his doctorate, and was recognized by the governor for deploying a fully online MTSS model.

Nikea Moffett: Manager of School Partnerships

Nikea is a proud graduate of Spelman College. Her teaching career began in 2001 with her experience ranging from grades five to eight. She has served as a District Math Specialist, Instructional Coach, and Mentor. Nikea earned her administrative credentials in Educational Leadership from Lamar University, receiving a Masters of Education Administration and a Principal Certification. Besides public education, she is also an Adjunct Professor of College Algebra and an Accelerated Teacher Certification preparing Teacher Candidates to become effective teachers. She loves music, but also enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with family. Nikea likes being of service to others and thrives on seeing others succeed.

Tiffany Henderson: Manager of School Partnerships

Tiffany is a passionate educational leader striving to touch the lives of educators and students across the country. She believes every child is capable of learning on the highest level with the proper resources. Tiffany is an advocate for engaging student discovery and collaboration. Two minds are always better than one in her perspective. 

As Manager of School Partnerships, Tiffany is now fulfilling one of her dreams by coaching and supporting educators across the US. Before joining Carnegie Learning full-time in 2021, Tiffany taught high school mathematics for fourteen years in Memphis, Tennessee.

Amy Rayford: Implementation manager

Amy joined the Carnegie Learning Team in March 2022.  Prior to joining Carnegie Learning, Amy worked as a middle school Mathematics teacher, Mathematics Department Chair, and a member of the Mathematics District Leadership Cadre at the Young Women’s Leadership Academy at Bill Arnold in Grand Prairie, TX. Amy is passionate about building lifelong learners, molding critical thinkers, and inspiring students to find new pathways through mathematics education.

Rayla Thornton: Manager of School Partnerships

Rayla comes to us from KIPP Texas and will lend valuable expertise in Texas Elementary Mathematics and Secondary Instructional Coaching. Rayla has a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Columbus State University and a Master’s in Public Administration and Justice Administration from Troy University. She became a licensed teacher (PK-5) in Clayton County’s Teacher Academy of Preparation and Pedagogy (TAPP) in 2019. In 2020, Rayla relocated to Houston, Texas from Atlanta, Georgia, and served as a STEM Teacher for a new founding elementary school with Yes Prep Public Schools. She was an educator for 3 years in public education where she taught Kindergarten and Fifth Grades All Subjects and 4 years in Georgia’s Pre- Kindergarten Program.
She was promoted to Dean of Instruction with Yes Prep Public Schools in 2020, supporting a cohort of teachers, grades 6th-12th. She later matriculated to KIPP Texas where she served as a New Teacher Coach, supporting 9th-12th Math, English- Language Arts, and Social Studies departments grades. Rayla had the opportunity to help coach and support the teachers on her campus with the implementation of the Eureka and Wit & Wisdom resources during her tenure with Yes Prep Public Schools. She looks forward to continuing this awesome journey of working with Carnegie Learning.
Rayla is a proud wife and mother of one beautiful daughter who is 7 years old. She enjoys tracing her genealogy, traveling, and spending quality time with her family and friends in her native hometown of Decatur, Georgia.

 

Krystal Goffney: Implementation Manager

 

Krystal comes to us from Spring ISD and will lend valuable expertise in Texas Secondary Math and Instructional Coaching. Krystal has a Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology from Sam Houston State University. She became a licensed teacher (Generalist 4-8) through an ACP program. She was an educator for a total of 7 years where she taught Math and Science grades 6-8. She was promoted to an Instructional Specialist position while working in Spring ISD, where she supported the Math and Science department grades 6-8. Krystal had the opportunity to help coach and support the teachers on her campus with the implementation of the Carnegie Learning resources in her final year at Spring ISD. This experience sparked her interest to join the Carnegie team, and she looks forward to continuing this awesome journey of working with Carnegie Learning.

Krystal is a proud wife and mother of one beautiful daughter who is 4 years old. She enjoys reading, traveling, and spending quality time with her family and friends in her spare time.
