Feeding America During the COVID Crisis

Our teachers have big hearts!

Carnegie Learning & Feeding AmericaYou may remember our MATHia Pizza Challenge that took place in the fall, where more than 500 classes around the country won a pizza party for meeting their MATHia goals.

This spring, we held another MATHia Pizza Challenge, but since schools were forced to close for COVID-19 before the end of the year, we gave the winners the option of donating the cost of their prize to one of three charities helping those impacted by the pandemic. They overwhelmingly chose to support Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger-relief organization.

We're proud to say that 130 classes from 42 different schools chose to donate their prize, resulting in a $3,460 donation that is sorely needed. According to a new study by Feeding America, local food insecurity rates could reach up to 1 in 3 adults and 1 in 2 children during the pandemic.

Thank you so much to all of our partner schools who chose to pay it forward in this way.
